stream :: Baxley - The Scene EP
Newbody Records adorns its second release from Munich, Germany native, Baxley. The 21 year old producer creates soulful deep house indebted compositions and his debut EP, The Scene, showcases exactly that. Baxley's original production background came from creating hip-hop music, and that sound has definitely contributed to the fruition of this EP. Tracing further influences of jazz and Detroit house, the new record seamlessly shines light on all these genres. The star track, 'The Scene', headlines the EP as an authentically deep anthem with simmering party noise reinforcing the tracks uncontrollably groovy pocket rhythm and melody. 'The Scene' also gets a remix on the EP from Chicago underground legend, Stacy Kidd. He flips the original on the head and increases the BPM creating an incredibly upbeat atmosphere with a blissful dub line that will get any body grooving at first listen.
While the first track, 'No More', takes on a more lounge laid-back funk approach the second to last track, 'Suspect' zeroes in on a fine tech-house infused rhythm that is extremely catchy in every which way. This dude is mad talented and definitely has a sound to keep an ear out for. This EP will be available in all major digital music stores November 4th, preceding a Beatport Exclusive ready for purchase on October 21st. Listen to the whole EP below...
