DECKast #26 x Dream Koala
Dream Koala mixes in for the 26th installment of the DECKast. His debut mix compiles a heavy amount of currently buzzed about U.S. beat experimentalist all-stars. A lot of classics on this one. Highly translucent and a tremendous amount of dreaminess emitting off all 35 minutes of it. Here's what Yndi, himself had to say about the mix...
"This mix features music I listen to and artists who inspire me at the moment. Maybe it will sound a bit "random" because I enjoy different stuff, but I tried to keep an homogenity on this one. Relax, have a nice trip, live long and prosper"

2KWTVR - 'Body Feelings'
Shlohmo treated the We Did It blog yesterday with a tune from the mysterious producer going by the name of, 2KWTVR. He got his first buzz on Salva's "Yellobone" remix w/ Shlohmo. This new one of his, 'Body Feelings' is a finely structured edit of Mariah's, "Emotions", that has an exquisite dance-floor feel underneath its upkeep bass and semi-juke timed unaturalized rhythm. Lyon//France record label, Juicy, recently debuted American-Canadian duo, Falcons. The duo comprises of TightMike & KayleoStocko who together form a beastly collaboration of minds. Their release on Juicy delivers their latest track, 'Nigeria', along with a remix from Bobby Tank. 'Nigeria' leaks of beautifully drowning and cascading juke and jungly bass syncopations that ride this epic wave of body-swaying motion. Its an instant R&Bass classic. Don't pass this one up. Zoom Lens mixtape #4 x Malta
Malta made a mixtape filled with new tracks and experiments of his for his beloved label and my favorite, Zoom Lens. The mixtape includes six perplexing tunes that showcases Malta's incredibly understated ability to make cutting-edge material. Bravo. My boy Malta aka Alex also runs a radio show over at UCSD's radio station every Tuesday from 4pm-5pm (same time as me), it's a great show, check that out over here. Stream and download the entire mixtape over here.

Hailing from Santa Cruz, the newly formed noise-pop duo, Dearest, shared an exclusive track of their's with Thats Deck entitled, 'Patience'. The duo consists of Samson Stilwell and Tessa Bolsover and together they make some heart-felt swooning melodies. 'Patience' is a flourishing easy-listening show-stopper that's incredibly fragile and comforting in its soft yet diligent infrastructure. Expect to hear more great things from these two very soon. For now, download the track below and check out their other works on soundcloud.

DECKast #25 x Warm Thighs
SLF Tapes curator and Brighton's madcap beat superstar, Warm Thighs mixes in for the 25th issue of the DECKast. Perry sent over this mix over about a month ago, and jam-packed it with a whirlwind of exquisitely tawdry VLC goodness. Thirty minutes of sultry easy-listening stimulations and otherworldly beatific rifts that soar high above alongside the 80's bangers that bring this mix to life. Here's what Warm Thighs had to say about the mix...
"Like, hello, I'm warm thighs, I love sunsets, writing long emails to friends and drinking pina coladas! This mix is a lot of SLF shit and a lot of completely random sexy shit that I like. Shout outs to Culprit & Randy Hall."

Handbook - Layerism
UK beatsmith, Handbook releases yet another fine-tuned caliber of beats. His new album, Layerism, loops, swoops, layers, and redefines feel-good beats. Although I have never really posted up anything on him before, I have been keeping up with him for sometime now. I think it's safe to say he's one out of many fish in the pond that is executing proper hip-hop beats magnificently up to date; he's highly underrated. The album travels to a new atmosphere of instrumental looping and chopped up sampling that Handbook has yet to fully explore or embark on. By all means his attempt was beyond successful and 100% on point. Download the album at a 'name your price' deal over at his bandcamp.
Dean Blunt - 'The Narcissist II'
Dean Blunt of Hype Williams, leaks a 30 minute collage of tunes; ranging from post-melodic after-tones to dark and cloudy R&B ambiance. Inga Copeland also makes her appearance towards the second half of the piece, with her mystifying vocals. The duo have an upcoming album on Hyperdub entitled, Black Is Beautiful, which is out April 17th. "The Narcissist II" sets us up beautifully for what we'd expect to hear next from the hazy innovators. Stream and download the mix below...

The Caretaker - Extra Patience (After Sebald)
England's ghostly musician, The Caretaker, gives up a free limited time download of bonus tracks from the soundtrack of Grant Gee's film, "Patience (After Sebald)". A gorgeous set of eerie compostions comprised of lovely post-soundtrack lullabies. This takes me on a journey through space and time. Thank you 1827, Franz Schubert, and Kirby for making me feel this way.
Of grace and providence, The Quilter Standard of Sebald was so run down. Isolated lights again and a golden pheasant on a black ground. After the Earth has ground itself down, little you, you should develop. But the Stars had come out and everything was on the point of decline again.

Natasha Kmeto - The Ache
Natasha Kmeto has strung a chord with me ever since her previous track, 'Belly', on the Dropping Gems 2nd compilation. Well to my excitement she's back with an entirely new set of tunes in her new album, The Ache, which is out now on Dropping Gems.
The dynamic vocals of Ms.Kmeto support her electrifyingly barrier breaking beat bassed instrumentals. Yeah, its something completely different from what she has created in the past but this new direction of her sound might be the best from her yet. Its always exciting to hear new emerging artists immediately explore their craft to its fullest potential. That enthusiasm makes their music that much more promising. Ms.Kmeto is definitely a keeper and will not disappoint. The album also features a remix from the great Letherette! Download her new album at a 'name your price deal' over at the label's bandcamp.

Some Ember - 'Era of Wind'
Some Ember aka Dylan Travis prepares for his debut album, Hotel of Lost Light, which is forthcoming on the wonderful Crash Symbols label. Dylan puts out the track, 'Era of Wind', which will be featured on the album. He dives into a reverb haven of twisted end of life hymn-filled mantras while vocalizing into a dark lonely tunnel that barely receives glimpses of light. Echoing all of its ethereal energies in a sway of haziness with a tabla raga that lingers. Really looking forward to this album.

Evian Christ - Kings and Them
I know im a little late on this one but Tri Angle Records recently put out a free mixtape from UK beat-trapper, Evian Christ. Boy, is this one amazing. It's a drugging beat collage of heavy post-party tunes, that have this sense of lucidity in its use of swirling tones and textures. Mr.Christ even takes a sample from a haunting Grouper tune and intertwines it with a upright funky post-footwork rhythm in his second to last track on the release, 'Thrown Like Jacks'. Real neat stuff. Download and stream the whole thing below...

Joseph Stallion & Seapoint - 'Made Like This'
[via]
On Portals newest feature section, "PORTALswap", the London/San Francisco project, Joseph Stallion was showcased. The band consists of two, Max Petrek and his female vocalist, Erin Ross. They teamed up with Montreal's Seapoint to fabricate an atmospheric bass churner that hits incredibly deep in all fields.
'Made Like This' lays down a set of noisy embedded samples while synths hover over it to enlighten the ever so captivating vocals of both Max and Erin. There's a sense of spatial ambiance that Seapoint brings to the track that leads you deep inside the fortifying structure of this pulsating mind-bender. Gorgeous tune. Oh and check out all of the other music Joseph Stallion has to offer over at his soundcloud.

Rimar - Closer
Rimar released a brand new album for free with a newly embellished sound to share. A lot less funkier then his last, Rimar has picked up some influences, tones , and textures from his current place of residency in Brooklyn. Its a very transparent and abstract interpretation from Rimar's previous works and almost has no reason or rhyme of focus. This unfocused state leaves Rimar with this perplexing yet soulful sound that resonates for miles. Listen and download it below from his bandcamp...

preview :: Evy Jane - Evy Jane 12"
Evelyn Mason and Jeremiah Klein make up the Vacouver-based R&B experiment, Evy Jane. Their soon to be released 12" on King Deluxe features two originally composed recordings and two reworks of each the numbers.
The EP's title track finds itself nestled into a sub-terrain of Evelyn's mind-bending precision to effortlessly lay her words on gallantly gaping floating rhythm provided by the kinetics of Mr.Klein. 'SAYSO' also gets remix treatment from Taal Mala which is featured last on the release.
The second track, 'Ohso', is an electrifying paradigm of just how gripping and exciting this duo's collaboration really is. Again, Ms. Evy Jane passionately echoes her vocals over a bang-filled dubby beat that is ever so clear and concise. Max Ulis turns up the bpm on the original to fabricate a fine timed remix, which is also featured on the EP. Pre-order the release over here and stream it below on the label's bandcamp...

Beach Fossils - 'Shallow'

Beach Fossil's 2010 self-titled album was a summery album, an album that didn't take too seriously at making people weep and sway, but a loose jammer that reminded people of something in the lines of the The Stroke's Is This It. Their new song, "Shallow", brings back the bands senseless ability to display whistle-worthy guitar riffs. Beach Fossils is following the same path as they did on their self-titled album and is recreating a beach landscape that made their self-titled album played all summer long.

Los Angeles' Julia Holter has become something of a name dropper when talking about Los Angeles' current experimental music scene. heRobust - Late Night / Morning After
Atlanta's glitch-wave indebted beatsmith, heRobust, released his remarkable double LP on Saturate Records at the beginning of this month. With a future funk and soul powered essence in everything Hayden has been fabricating he successfully dissembles his technically robust vibe and channels his sounds into a galaxy of luscious and nurturing milky ways, that formulate the releases, Late Night & Morning Ater.
While Late Night explores the body-gripping and groove-filled strutting numbers, it creates an atmosphere of its own; switching off all thoughts in the mind and letting the body unwind to dance with the stars. Morning After takes on a lot more of a down-tempo charade, orchestrating an up-lifting song bank of soul drowned beats, glitches, hisses, and zooms. Grab them both for free at the label's bandcamp.

Brainfeeder Sampler
If you haven't already seen, heard, or downloaded; Brainfeeder put out a free sampler earlier this week containing a track from each of the amazing members on its team. I was going through it and there is one track on this piece that I had not yet heard, while the others I had already listened to countless times.
The stunningly strung-out instrumental from Taylor McFerrin's, 'Place In My Heart feat. RYAT', is yet another Brainfeeder tune for the books, hence its place alongside the best of best from the label this past year. So beautiful. Cop the whole compilation over here.
