Dream Koala - 'Alice'
France's aquatic chill-waver, Dream Koala, treated me to a track of his, earlier this week on his soundcloud. Its a short piece entitled 'Alice'. Now whatever impact an Alice has made on you in your lifetime, raise a glass to her. Spread her ashes in the ocean of subtly and grayness. This one makes me feel as if I just woke up from a deep perplexing dream. Featured this track on my weekly radio show at TIRadio today (on air every TUESDAY 4pm - 5pm). Much love to DRE∆M KO∆L∆...

preview :: Slava - 'I've Got Feelings Too'
Born in Moscow but now a current resident in Brooklyn, visual and music producer, Slava Balsanov aka Slava has an upcoming release on the paired Mexican Summer and Software label. Slava unleashes a syrupy post-footwork jam entitled, 'I've Got Feelings Too', which will be featured on his Soft Control EP, out early this coming February.
Its barely the end of the first month in the new year and there are already a vast amount of artists racing towards this emerging up-bass juke structure in their compostions of sound. Its a beautiful sect in electronic music that's taking growth and I can't wait to hear more producers jump on its train.
Slava's banger, 'I've Got Feelings Too', pumps up on its skittering footwork laced bass-line and lets the rhythm speak through its cascading synths which carry its electrifying range of captivity and the rolling mantra of "i've got feelings too". Watch out for this one...

Grouper - 'Demona' (Dead Moon Cover)

It's always reassuring to hear an artist nail their sound, but it's also refreshing to hear an artist progress and develop their sound. What makes an artist stand out is when an artist is comfortable incorporating their old sound with their new sound, creating a mixture of both familiar and unfamiliar territory.
A take on Dead Moon's "Demona" is still Grouper, but with some straightforwardness. The druggy, Clams Casino-like murkiness still wraps around Grouper's production. The voice is still buried in thick reverb and the guitar's distortion still stresses the song's mood. "Demona" is Grouper's take on punk and she has managed to shape it the way she best represents herself.

Time Wharp - BLK EP
Atlanta-born beat innovator Time Wharp releases his first EP on the Astro Nautico label with a gorgeously abstract 7 track piece entitled, BLK. Following up with his previous EP, GRN, he lurks down a different path from his riding down-tempo beat based exhibition. This time round he's back with a heavier bass infused juke 2-step configuration that speaks out fairly nicely in todays current trend of electronic sounds. Featuring a tune with the beloved Divine Interface and remixes from RAJA, The Range, and Obey City; Time Wharp completely hits the mark with this one. Highly incorrigible tunes beginning to end. Download for free at the labels bandcamp...

Bukit Timah - Bukit Timah
Oakland's psychedelic experiment, Bukit Timah, recently came up on my radar from a submission he left in my inbox. To my discovery I uncovered a beautiful two sided piece that explores a collage of humming and brewing lo-fi drum loops and sample-based found sounds. It's finely cut and strangely arranged manner files itself through the works of his mpc 2000xl and sp-303. Both sides clock in at fifteen minutes, and leave you thirsting for more abstract heaviness. If that's what you dig that is. I really dig it and I think a listen is highly necessary for those of you who enjoy explorative sounds. Download the two sides over at his soundcloud or bandcamp.

Lianne La Havas - 'Forget' (Shlohmo Remix)
Shlohmo has been doing some incredibly unheard of things lately with his sound and structure of music. So much progression and soul embedded into all of his lastest works including his unprecedented hit album, Bad Vibes. Since then, he's just been getting better and better. I saw him live recently at the WeDidIt Festival, which might I add was a beautiful showcase and wonderful experience; he played this remix in particular if I can recall correctly. Sub-frying basslines and electrifying synths alongside the gorgeously draped vocals of upcoming UK soloist, Lianne La Havas. Its one hell of an anthem that must be heard...[via]

Babe Rainbow - 'Greed (feat. Yung Clova)' [Nowa Huta Remix]
UK down-tempo fiend, Nowa Huta gives rework to Babe Rainbow's up beat banger, 'Greed', off the newly released Greed Remix EP, which is out now on Mishka NYC's bandcamp. Nowa Huta transforms the tune into an ethereal landscape speaking instrumental that subdues its fine tuned "OO's and AH's" onto a cascading stream that flows and dips into an echoing cove of reverberation. Its somewhat inspiring and healing at the same time. Lovely remix. The EP also features a remix by Grimes' alien brother, d'Eon, whom brings an exceptionally as amazing refinement to the release. Australian experimental bass innovator, Dro Carey, left his tumblr page with a treat of tunes the other day. Azealia Banks - 'NEEDSUMLUV' (prod. Machinedrum)
Harlem's quick lyricist, Azealia Banks, and Sepalcure's favored half, Machinedrum, are one harmonizing duo to keep all ears on. Ms.Banks spits over Travis', 'SXLND', composition which is featured on his newly released EP, SXLND, out today on Lucky Me. The tune trails a wonky R&B residue on the ear drums that is in it's most progressive consistency just as Azealia labels the track on her soundcloud page. They both compliment each other impeccably. Check out the radiantly up-beat joint below...

DECKast #24 x Sleazy P
Good friend, Patrick aka Sleazy P, mixed in for this issue of the DECKast. He sent me this one a couple of months back, and I've been jamming out to it ever since. Dude's got a great ear for music, and doesn't hesitate to combine it with his sleazy vibes with some thumping boogie-down numbers. Pop this one in at a party and get the whole house shaking a leg. It's highly groovy and undoubtedly made for you to get down to. Download it over at his soundcloud or below. Here's what he had to say about the mix...
"House 'n Garage music meet Hip/Hop 'n R & B was kind of the vibe I was feeling. Also a major 70's to 80's disco influences relevant in this mix. Nostigical stuff that I have loved in the past and I'm stuff I'm digging right now. House for me, is making a big comeback by fusing with other music from the electronic spectrum. Bass Music has had a huge impact on this House influx and it has done a great job by keeping the sounds fresh with proper sampling. It's just feel good headbobbing.
Ready to Groove ? Hope you enjoy this mix as much as I did making it."

Best of SELA.
Bay area producer, SELA., recently came up on my radar not too long ago with his incredibly precious discography. Dating back to the end of summer last year, SELA., has been on his beat experimentation game consecutively for sometime now. He has been making hit after hit releases on his bandcamp. Deep soulful ambiance for the relaxing mind to sync to. Looping and swooning beat instrumentals that tickle the heart and free the mind of all worry. Incredibly lucid and syrupy. Reminds me of Knxwledge quite a bit. So for those of you Knx fans out there; these sounds definitely won't disappoint. This cat is doing some great things. Here's two of my favorite tracks off two of his best releases, SmackDaHoe Presents: SELA. and (See) 1993 - EP. Grab his entire discography over HERE.

DECKast #23 x Beat Culture
Beat Culture aka Sunik Kim, mixes in for this issue of the DECKast. He has his debut album coming out on Bad Panda Records, January 15th entitled, Tokyo Dreamer, and it is definitely something to look out for. Mr.Kim quickly sent me this mix without any hesitation. It's real clear this kid has got great taste in music. Turn this one on play, when in any type of mood or environment, and satisfaction will be brought to the ears. It’s a real fun one, without a doubt. Thanks for sharing Sunik! Here’s what he had to say about the mix...
"This is just me trying to mash in as many of my favorite electronic
songs as possible into a 45 minute mix. I didn't go for a particular
vibe throughout the whole thing, but it's on the mellow side.
Basically what I want is for people to throw this on at any time and
be into it, regardless of what mood they're in...there's something for
everyone, didn't consciously try to go really obscure so I hope you
recognize a bunch of these! Other than that, lots of the tracks last
only a minute before mixing with other tracks or just fading out, so I
hope it keeps your attention for the whole time...kick back and
enjoy!!"

Stray Landings presents Residual Rifts
Rising blog collective from the UK, Stray Landings, dropped a beautiful little gift in my inbox the other day. Their debut compilation, Residual Rifts, includes contributions from 8 mysteriously intriguing acts; one of which I've previously posted about, Stavrogin. The compilation explores rift speaking spatial garage instrumentations and filing head-bopping rhythms. It's a new year and a new era of music. So wonderful to see compilations that encompass this sound that is ever so emerging and able to make a successful impact on the growing community. This one does exactly that.
