EP :: Lone - Echolations

Lone releases a six track EP on R&S records entitled, Echolations. The EP pushes uplifting and hard hitting up-beat bass bombs that haze over exposed and reverbed down-right boogie synths. Get down on the dancefloor, in the car, the house, the shower, wherever it may be; Matt Cutler has fabricated some next level dance rhythms that are just perfect for any boogie-down. 'Coreshine Voodoo' and 'Exploers', the two bangers that begin Lone's echolations of sounds, are two unprecedented pieces of work that set a new standard of this realm in electronic music. I'd say Mr.Cutler is one of the finest in this growing funky scene or whatever you want to call it. Buy the EP on 12" HERE.

EP :: Luminary Youth - Weekend Dreams

Tampa, Florida's, beat reworker, Luminary Youth, released his, Weekend Dreams EP, last month through his bandcamp. Originally it was up for free but ran out of downloads, now it can be purchased for $4. The EP encompasses tracks by Cults, Warpaint, and Memoryhouse, all of which have been reworked into euphorically visual ditties that drip a dilla-esque vibe and scream with dormant bass stomps. Really awesome material, he's done. Download some of my personal favorites off it and stream the whole EP below...

Premiere :: Smoke Room - 'Knock, Knock' + 'Beads'

Kyle aka Smoke Room (formerly Young Henry), was kind enough to send over a couple tracks that he's recently been working on. 'Knock, Knock,' knocks the ear drums with a fortifying beatific rift of top of the world little house on the prairie melodies and deep low pitched sampled bass vocals; it's an instant banger. 'Beads' drives the reverb up into a soundscaptual layer of glitchy chopped samples subdued underneath korean pop vocals and draining chordal synths. Only 18 years of age, he's going places. Check out his soundcloud for more his sounds.

Toro Y Moi - 'I Will Talk To You'

Toro Y Moi and Cloud Nothings release their split 7" on Carpark Records, tomorrow. Toro Y Moi's side features, 'I Will Talk To You', it weaves repetitiously wavy underwater grooves with funky pitched vocals that create a working melodic unison of disco rhythms. This one can easily be repeated over and over. Possibly better than what he's done with Underneath The Pine; I wish his whole album sounded like this one.

Animal Collective - Keep Cassette

Animal Collective puts together a 4 track cassette mixtape for Keep Shoe Company. The mixtape contains four unreleased solo tracks from each member of the group; Geologist, Avey Tare, Deakin, and Panda Bear. Avey Tare's, 'Call Home (Buy Grapes)', drives modulating banjo sounding melodies and distorted vocals into something that would only be produced by Avey and only Avey. The rather less known of the band, Deakin, generates a moving track, 'Country Report', sounding as if it were derived from or influenced by Merriweather Post Pavilion; great track. Check out the sneakers they designed for Keep, HERE. Stream and DL the two tracks talked about above and download the whole mixtape below...

Burial - 'NYC'

The long awaited release has finally cut through my itunes and infiltrated my ears; Burial's, Street Halo EP. The 3 track dubby garage 2-stepper lifts the mind body and soul into a groundbreaking state of subbed out bass and relentlessly teasing rhythmical patterns. The rather dusky track of the three, 'NYC', swifts and dips into a shoreline of gut wrenching frequencies and room to think textures. Perfect for those sleepless nights and long car rides home. Purchase the EP on 12" HERE. DL 'NYC' and stream the other two radio ripped tracks below...

Drugg - Shackled EP

London electronic garage duo, Drugg, released their, Shackled EP, about a month ago on the Less Music label. The EP encompasses a certain noisy ambiance throughout making it fairly difficult to listen and enjoy it right off the bat, but once you hit play a couple of times the beauty of their sound surely to be heard. 'In These Found Times' streams waves of overpowering droney textures that seem to be strangling the eloquent lyrics being sung, but it plays out in some divine composition of multi-layerd electronic sounds that correlate in a happy medium. Buy it on 12" HERE. DL the track talked about above and stream the rest of the EP below...

Four Tet x Daphni (Caribou) - Pinnacles // Ye Ye

Four Tet and Daphni (Caribou's new alias) put together a split 12" on Kieran Hebden's, Text Label. 'Pinnacles' delivers steady rhythmical basslines and sophisticatedly grooveful sub layers of polyphonic jazz ditties that lurk into haven of fluid harmonies. On the flip side Daphni's, 'Ye Ye', dips into cerebral soundscapes of subtly droney spaced out synths that trigger percussive mind-embracing textures, creating a force field of aligned and syncopated get down vibes. I had the pleasure of seeing the wonderful Dibia$e at L.A.'s finest, Low End Theory last night. His modesty and humbleness definitely shines through his utterly feel good bass bopping nu-soul beats. He single handedly was one of the first to start up in the L.A. beat scene, just as MC Nocando said last night before Mr. Dibiase began his awe-inspiring set. album :: Hype Williams - One Nation

Chill-hopper duo, Hype Williams, released their album, One Nation, earlier this week on Hippos In Tanks. Lo-fi chill-hoppin beats and droned out electrifying synths. The album sets subsequent and accredited labels on this unprecedented sound of what we have started to call 'chillwave' or 'bedroom pop'. Their sound reminds me of something along the lines of Com Truise and Matthewdavid; down-tempo off beat rifts and wavy synthlines, that seems to be quite the trend in 2011. There's definitely a new movement in sound developing and it's become fairly persistent on these exemplifying tones. Each track has it's own subtle beauty that seeps through their rhythmical and textural soundscapes, coming to fruition with each listen. Purchase the album on 12" HERE.

DECKast #6 x Young Henry

The overlooked, Young Henry, of the Zoom Lens collective, was kind enough to make a remarkably deviant 30min mix for this issue of the DECKast. Rise your head, open your ears, and indulge yourself. Here's his blurb about the mix...

"I'm picky about the music I listen to, so as follows, the artists on this mix are by those I thoroughly respect and look up to. I was inspired a lot on "Octagon" by these musicians so this is in a way my homage to them. From hip hop and beats to ambient to K-pop and J-pop."
