Relistening :: White Noise - An Electric Storm [1969]

The late 1960s experimental group, White Noise, helped typify the start of electronic music. The band was made up of electronic pioneers; Delia Derbyshire, David Vorhaus, Brian Hodgson, and Mark Jenkins. They all worked closely and were well-known due to their relation to the famous BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Through the Unit Delta Plus, an organization that was intended to use, create and promote electronic music, Delia helped set up the Kaleidophon studio in London, which was later where the band produced their debut album, An Electric Storm. It is considered to be the most valuable and influential record in the development of electronic music, showcasing sounds that are hard to believe to be created during that time. Below are three of my favorites off the album, which you can DL at its entirety HERE.

White Noise - Love Without Sound
White Noise - My Game of Loving
White Noise - Firebird

Oni Ayhun - OAR004

Oni Ayhun, aka The Knife's Olof Dreijer has been doing a secrect side techno project for about the past two years. With his fourth and lastest release, OAR004, on his own record label, Oni Ayhun Records; his secretiveness is slowly being chipped away at with growing fans of his captivating live shows and not to mention is relation with, of course, The Knife. Oni gives the listeners not only something beautiful to listen to but also gives his meaning behind each of his records, for OAR004 he explains, "This music works by releasing carbon dioxide gas into a batter through an acid-base reaction, causing bubbles in the wet mixture to expand and thus leavening the mixture..." Now when listening to the record and keeping in mind the description, the music becomes so very alive and uncontrollably mind-bending. Below is the A & B side of the record...but you can also purchase HERE on vinyl along with his later releases.

Album :: Hercules & Love Affair - Blue Songs

Hercules and Love Affair put the D in dance in their new album, Blue Songs. The alluring 11 track album encompasses housey textures and up beat melodies, intertwined with stupefying lyrics that fabricate a fresh originality to each song. Definitely liking the route the group took with this release, so soulful, so absorbing, and so very on point. 'I Can't Wait', track 8 off the album takes funky house basslines and unpitched vocals creating something fairly similar to that of Miss Kittin's work. Have a listen... and be sure to support this album when it comes out, Jan. 31.

Purity Ring - 'Ungirthed'

Purity Ring released this track earlier month and it climbs up to be one of my favorites of 2011 already. 'Ungirthed' has a post-wobble pop sound that is just so very refreshing and so fitting for 2011. The almsot 3 minute song will surely brighten up any day.

Bristols city's finest house producer, Julio Bashmore, recently released his electrifying EP, Everyone Needs A Theme Tune, on the brand new, PMR record label. Relistening :: Teengirl Fantasy // CD-R [2009]

Chillout house, synth-pop, eclectic experimentlists, Teengirl Fantasy, are a duo that can easily be overlooked. With their 2009 release, CD-R, it absolutely shows how raw and original their realm of music is. When actually listened closely, the more acceptable their aesthetic and eccentric sound becomes. Check out their playful DOMAIN. Below are some of my favorites off the album...
